As market demands for the quality, life and discharge characteristics of lead-acid AGM batteries have grown, traditional electrolyte filling methods have become limiting their performance. In response, our company has developed an innovative, fully automated electrolyte filling process. This decision was the result of three years of intensive technical development and extensive process testing; it corresponds to modern trends in “smart manufacturing” aimed at improving quality, energy saving and increasing efficiency.
**Advantage 1: Full automation of the process.** The entire cycle is automated, while it is possible to flexibly configure equipment to perform key steps depending on production needs.
**Benefit 2: No Bounce-Back Filling.** We have developed multi-position priming technology that prevents back-flow of electrolyte, resulting in energy efficiency and high performance. The system can be configured to simultaneously fill from 2 to 18 batteries per cycle.
**Advantage 3: Filling with cooled electrolyte.** The technology provides for flow mixing and cooling of the electrolyte with additives to a temperature of 0–5°C; It is also possible to supply pyrogenic silicon dioxide (optional).
**Benefit 4: Secondary Negative Pressure Treatment Step** Within three minutes of the initial electrolyte addition, a negative pressure treatment step is applied. This allows gas bubbles and heat generated during the initial reaction to be removed, and also ensures that the separators and plates are completely saturated with the electrolyte, thereby increasing the effective reaction surface area.
**Benefit 5: Pre-cooling** Within three minutes of the negative pressure treatment stage, the batteries are pre-cooled in a cold water bath (process duration: at least 30 minutes). Because a significant amount of heat is generated inside the battery within 20 minutes of priming and natural heat dissipation is slow, we use 10-15°C water and a 30-minute cooling cycle to completely eliminate the risk of heat generation. **Benefit 6: Third Stage of Negative Pressure Treatment** After leaving the pre-cooling bath, the batteries undergo a third stage of Negative Pressure Treatment to completely remove any residual gases and heat generated inside the battery during the electrolyte filling process.
